SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION



Accreditation

The CME Information desk is at the participants’ disposal in the Congress
Secretariat premises from Friday, June 13 and throughout the scientific works.

UEMS
This ESH Congress has obtained the full accreditation from the Union of European Medical Specialties, which will assure the reciprocity of ESH-CME credits all over Europe and the United States (American Medical Association).
Credits are given for all sessions and for participation in the Congress in
general and are awarded as follows:
Total credits available: nr. 40

Participants who wish to receive the UEMS credits must fill in the UEMS evaluation form delivered at the CME Information Desk and return it to the same desk before leaving.
Certificates of attendance indicating the UEMS credits obtained will be
mailed after the Congress.

ITALIAN MINISTRY OF HEALTH - CME credits
The accreditation has been asked separately for each day of the Main
Meeting:

ITALIAN CME EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Saturday, June 14 - credits available nr. 8
To obtain the Italian CME credits the participant must attend:

• one of the four Breakfast Workshops held from 7.15 to 8.15 hrs.

• one of the four parallel Oral Sessions held from 8.30 to 10.30 hrs.

• one of the three parallel Oral Sessions or the Topical Workshop held from
11.00 to 12.30 hrs.
• the Teaching Seminar, the "How to" Session or the Poster Session held in
the time-slot included between 12.30 and 15.30 hrs.
• one of the three parallel Oral Sessions or the Topical Workshop held from
15.30 to 17.00 hrs.
• the Plenary Session held from 17.00 to 18.30 hrs. in the Auditorium.

Sunday, June 15 - credits available nr. 9
To obtain the Italian CME credits the participant must attend:

• one of the four Breakfast Workshops held from 7.15 to 8.15 hrs.

Monday, June 16 - credits available nr. 8
To obtain the Italian CME credits the participant must attend:
• one of the four Breakfast Workshops held from 7.15 to 8.15 hrs.
• one of the four parallel Oral Sessions held from 8.30 to 10.30 hrs.
• one of the three parallel Oral Sessions or the Topical Workshop held from 11.00 to 12.30 hrs.
• the Teaching Seminar, the "How to" Session or the Poster Session held in the time-slot included between 12.30 and 15.30 hrs.
• one of the three parallel Oral Sessions or the Topical Workshop held from 15.30 to 17.00 hrs.
• the Plenary Session held from 17.00 to 18.15 hrs. in the Auditorium.

Tuesday, June 17 - credits available nr. 3
To obtain the Italian CME credits the participant must attend:

• one of the seven ESH Working Groups held from 9.00 to 12.30 hrs.

At the moment of registration, each participant is given the evaluation forms and learning questionnaires of the scientific sessions scheduled.
These forms and questionnaires must be filled in and returned to the CME
Information Desk.

Electronic tags are used to record the CME credits. The electronic readers are placed:
- at the entrance of the Fiera Milano Congressi Center (Ground Floor)
- at the entrance to the Poster Area (Ground Floor)
- at the entrance to the Exhibition Area and Meeting Halls (1st floor)
- in the Auditorium premises (2nd floor).

After having collected their badge, Italian participants are asked to go to the CME Information Desk in order to receive the electronic tag which will be instantly associated to the registrant name on the badge.

It is sufficient to pass through the electronic portals located in the Congress Venue (as indicated above) to have the credits recorded.

To obtain credits, Italian participants must:
- record both the entrance and the exit of each Meeting day
- return the electronic tag to the Organizing Secretariat at the end of the
Congress (CME Information Desk)
- return the evaluation form duly filled in to the CME Information Desk
- fill in and return to the CME Desk the learning questionnaires. The
anagraphical data must compulsorily be indicated since required by the Italian Ministry of Health.

Please note that should you loose or fail to return the tag, you will be charged _ 6,00 by the Organizing Secretariat.

CME ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATES
CME attendance certificates recording the credits obtained for participating
in the ESH 2003 Congress will be mailed to the address indicated on the questionnaire after having completed the necessary Ministry of Health procedures.

ESH CREDITS
Attendance at this Meeting will provide nr.
3 credits for application as Hypertension Specialist of the European Society of Hypertension.

Audiovisual Instructions
There is a Multimedial Slide Center, located at Level 2 of the Congress Centre.

ONLY PC DATA PROJECTION WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE CONGRESS.

Each symposium room will be provided with a laptop. Therefore, the use of one’s laptop will not be allowed.

Should speakers have their personal laptop, a floppy disk or a CD-Rom, they are kindly requested to go to the multimedial slide center to have their presentation copied. The presentation will be then forwarded through a LAN network from the Multimedial Slide Center directly to the computer in the presentation room.
We kindly recommend to contact the Multimedial Slide Center the day before your presentation. If this is not possible, please respect the following time schedule:

• 45 minutes before for PowerPoint presentation on floppy disk or CD-Rom
• 1 hour before
for presentations on Personal Computer.

Oral Sessions
Parallel Oral Sessions are held on June 14, 15 and 16. Each presentation is given 15 minutes (10 for presentation and 5 for discussion). Oral Session Speakers are requested to observe the guidelines indicated below.

Guidelines for Oral Session Speakers
• Follow the instructions indicated at the paragraph "Audiovisual Instructions" (see page 39)

• Locate your Session Room in due time
• Find yourself in the Room assigned for presentation at least 10 minutes before the beginning of the Session to meet the Chairs
• Respect the timing allowed for your presentation
• All presentations, discussions and questions are in English

Please note that for each accepted abstract, the registration fee of at least one of the Authors is required.

Poster Sessions
All participants are invited to come and view the posters which are displayed
in the Ground Floor of the Fiera Milano Congressi Center from Saturday, June 14 to Monday, June 16.
Poster must be hanged on at 18.00 hrs. on the day preceding the Session assigned for display and removed at the end of the day assigned for the exhibition, according to the following scheduling:

Saturday, June 14
Sessions 1-10: mounting on June 13 at 18.00 hrs. and dismantling on June 14 at 17.00 hrs.

Sunday, June 15
Sessions 11-20: mounting on June 14 at 18.00 hrs. and dismantling on June 15 at 17.00 hrs.

Monday, June 16, 2003
Sessions 21-30: mounting on June 15 at 18.00 hrs. and dismantling on June 16 at 17.00 hrs.
