HOW TO REACH MILAN


 

By Plane

There are three airports in Milan:

MALPENSA: is the main airport of Milan and is located some fifty kilometers from the city. A train service is available to and from Malpensa.

LINATE (domestic and international flights) is located at less than ten kilometers from the heart of the city.

ORIO AL SERIO (domestic and international flights) is located about fourty kilometers from the city.

AIRPORT CONNECTIONS

City centre - Linate: Bus 73 from Piazza S. Babila on the corner with Corso Europa. Running time: approx. 20 minutes. Times: every 10 minutes from 05.30 to 00.20.

Central Station - Linate: Bus from and to Piazza Luigi di Savoia. Running time: approx. 20 minutes. Times: every 30 minutes from 05.40 to 21.00.

Central Station - Malpensa: Bus from and to Piazza Luigi di Savoia. 
Running time: approx. 50 minutes.
Times: every 20 minutes from 05.20 to 22.30. For information: Phone 0258583202.

City centre - Malpensa: Malpensa Express Train - From and to Cadorna North Railways Station. Running time: approx. 40 minutes. Free of charge for Alitalia passengers - Times: first ride 05.20 - from 06.20 to 23.00 every 30 minutes.

Linate - Malpensa Bus service: Running time: approx. 75 minutes. Times: every hour from 04.00 to 11.30 p.m.

 

By Train

The most important station in the city is the Stazione Centrale, from which most trains directed to other Italian cities and to European destinations leave. 
Stazione Centrale can be reached by subway, MM Centrale FS, by tram (1, 5, 9 and 33) or by bus (42, 60, 65).
The other important railway stations are Stazione Garibaldi, Stazione Lambrate and Stazione Cadorna. Milan also offers a regional rail network called Ferrovie Nord.

 

By Car

Milan is the major junction of Italy’s motorways. 
The motorways which lead to Milan are connected by the Tangenziale Est (East pass-by) and the Tangenziale Ovest (West by-pass):

A1 - Autostrada del Sole
From Milan to Bologna, Florence, Naples and Reggio Calabria.

A4 - Milano/Torino
From Milan to Turin.

A4 Serenissima
From Milan to Bergamo, Brescia, Verona, Udine, Trieste.
In Verona there is the junction with the A22, which goes as far as the Austrian border.

A7 - Riviera Ligure
From Milan to Genoa and the Italian Riviera where it divides into two: 
the Ligure Toscana motorway to the east for the Riviera di Levante and Versilia and the Autostrada dei Fiori to the west for the Riviera di Ponente and the French border.

A8-A9 Laghi (Lakes)
From Milan to Varese and Sesto Calende or Como and Chiasso (Switzerland).
