Dear Friends, The 13th Scientific Meeting of the European Society of Hypertension will take place in Milan from June 13th to 17th, 2003. The chairman of the Meeting will be Professor Mancia and this guarantees that the meeting will have a high scientific level and an attractive social program. This is the first Meeting after the European Society of Hypertension has been officially istitutionalized and the Foundation of the European Society of Hypertension has been created in order to improve the Society organization, increase its ability to interact with its members and continue to provide scientific events of high scientific and educational value. On behalf of the European Society of Hypertension it is my pleasure and honour to invite you to attend the Meeting. Looking forward to seeing you in Milan. José L. Rodicio |

Dear Friends, it is a great pleasure for me to extend you a cordial invitation to attend the 13th official Scientific Meeting of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) which will be held in Milan, June 13-17, 2003. The scientific programme will continue the tradition of the many ESH meetings which have been held in Milan in the past. That is, a large portion of the programme will be devoted to oral and poster presentations which have been selected from the abstracts submitted by the participants, based on the assessment of four expert Reviewers per abstract. The programme will also include: 1) state-of-the-art lectures, debates and round tables to complement presentations of original research with views on topics of basic and clinical interest from worldwide authorities in hypertension; 2) Satellite Symposia organized by Drug Industry, which will be held in the days before, after and during (evenings) the main Meeting to allow more specific information on new treatments of hypertension and related cardiovascular diseases to be presented and discussed; 3) breakfast meetings and scientific sessions organized by the Working Groups of ESH and presentations, in separate sessions, of the research activities of young European investigators and 4) teaching sessions focused on aspects of more practical interest and on clinical cases aimed more specifically at physicians interested in becoming European Hypertension Specialists. This will provide, I believe, a full update on current range and level of European research on this vital area of medicine, also including, as always in the past, significant contributions from extra European countries. The programme will be under the responsibility of the Scientific Council of ESH and the meeting will have the patronage of the Italian Society of Hypertension and of the University of Milan and Milan-Bicocca. The extremely large attendance to the 2001 meeting, however, has made it necessary to move the meeting venue to the new Congress Center that is now operative at the Milan Fair. It is a large functional and nice structure well connected with Milan downtown which will certainly be up to the expectations of Congress participants. The Opening Ceremony (June 13th, evening) will be held in the Fieramilano Congressi, as well. The European Society of Hypertension will also provide travel and accommodation grants to help participation of young investigators and investigators who may find difficult covering expenses for participation in the meeting . Lower registration fees have also been planned for the members of the European Society of Hypertension. As for the 2001 meeting, the 2003 ESH meeting will receive official credits from UEMS (European Union of Medical Specialists) to which ESH belongs and from ESH itself with regard to European Specialist qualification. Yours sincerely, Giuseppe Mancia |
